A large family with 5 teenagers needed a dining table that was individual and bespoke that would create a meeting place and warm environment for family meals. The table was built from solid American Oak timber and a custom stain was used to create a warm inviting environment to blend the kitchen space into the living area, designed by Gary Hamer. The client requested the table to appear to float, to allow more chairs to be placed and this was achieved by using an angled recessed frame. To give more interest to the tabletop it was designed to have cross section strips of timber along the edges and in the middle of the table.

Gary Hamer Interior Design and Finer Living worked together to create this beautiful piece.

Many long lunches and late summer dinners are now spent around this bespoke table that will stay in the family for generations.

We have recently delivered the new tables and chairs to the Sofitel club Lounge on Level 30
Banquet seating was also installed, adding new spaces of comfort and privacy to the lounge.

The Sofitel wanted 15 dining room tables and 30 new leather chairs and we had very limited space to work within, so we designed a table that was large enough to still be able to fit 4 people comfortably while still keeping the table strong but also light enough to move around.

The chairs are made from an extremely soft leather and are very comfortable and fitting for a luxury environment.

A Media Room with Charm

We were asked to create a media room that offered charm and warmth to a stylish apartment. The room needed to be comfortable and inviting to sit in to read a book or to watch a movie. We went with a new age veneer finished with a clear finish. The panels were installed as to not show any fixings and we worked with two coloured paneling to create space for the artwork in amongst the media hardware. The final product produced the effect of a media room with contemporary yet classic style.

Experience and meticulous craftsmanship combined to give an exceptional result for the wall and ceiling paneling. An added bonus was the efficient and smooth, hassle-free installation of the work. Highly recommended.

We were asked to make bedside tables with a classic ultra modern look. The drawer blends in with the base, making it look like one unit and the grain flows around all sides of the drawer. The legs are made from solid oak and stained to keep the grain but give it a darker colour. The drawers slide in and out with a slight touch. The bedsides are solid, classic and timeless.

A desk to remember

A couple were holidaying in Tasmania when they fell in love with this piece of Huon Pine. The colour, the grain, everything in the timber gave them a feeling they couldn’t walk away from. They decided to bring it back to Brisbane and have it made into a functional furniture piece they could continue to admire in their home.

Finer Living were able to transform their treasure into a unique piece that highlights the colour and grain, while remaining functional, unique and stylish.

Matthew suggested contrasting a darker timber against the Huon pine to highlight the natural colours in the pine and this works wonderfully. Using a cross leg design in French Walnut added contrast and timber inlays were also incorporated along the sides to a solid Walnut back. This leads the eye around the piece and back to the solid timber handles at the front. Each drawer is made from French Oak and are mitre joined to the top, making it look like it is made from one solid section.

The owners said they wanted something they could hand down through the family to keep their love of the timber alive, and Matthew had this in mind when designing the desk. The owners are over the moon with their find from Tasmania now being a desk that can be treasured forever.
